Greg
Andonian holds
a Master of Architecture first professional terminal degree from the former USSR
-- based on French Beaux Arts, German Bauhaus
and Russian Avant Garde traditions --
and a Master of Applied Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in Systems
Design from the University of Waterloo, Canada. His graduate studies were
focused on the art, science and philosophy of design in the creative making of
architecture via digital means. Since 1971, he has developed content for courses
on design and technology for several North American universities, conducted
research on architecture and hi-tech, and published papers on instrumental
reasoning. During the past 20 years, he has organized over 25 international
symposia on architecture and technology in North America and Europe and debated
global issues pertaining to systems design, informatics and cybernetics and
their impact on quality of life in the build environment. Currently he is a
professor of architecture at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada where he
heads the Post-professional M. Arch. degree program, Design and Technology
division. The International Institute for Advanced Studies in Baden-Baden,
Germany conferred upon him Dr. H.C. -- Doctor Honoris Causa -- in 1996 and
Distinguished Professor of the Institute in 2002 in
recognition for his long service to the international scientific community.
