Violeta Avetisian is currently a PhD candidate in Philology at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Ilia State University in Tbilisi, Georgia. She is finishing her doctoral dissertation entitled “The Concept of Time and Space in the 20th Century Russian and Georgian Émigré Literature: Vladimir Nabokov’s and Grigol Robakidze’s Early Fictions”.
In 2005, she obtained a BA in English and Spanish Philology (Diploma with Honors) at the Institute of Foreign Languages and Literature. In 2007, she earned a Master’s degree in English Philology at Ilia Chavchavadze State University.
From 2010 to 2013, she has taught at Ilia State University the following courses: History of English Literature courses (English Literature in 450–1660; English Literature in 1660–1780; English Literature in 1780–1830; English Literature in 1830–1900; English Literature in the 20th Century), Introduction to English Studies, Introduction to Literary Criticism.
Currently, Violeta Avetisian is the author of 13 scholarly articles published in peer-reviewed journals in Georgia and in Europe. She has presented her papers at 11 international scientific conferences held in Georgia and in Europe. She is a member of the European Narratology Network (ENN) (http://www.narratology.net). In 2013, she presented her paper at The 3rd Conference of the European Narratology Network which took place in Paris, France. Her research interests are time and space in literature, the concept of time and space in philosophy, Cognitive poetics, Narratology, Comparative Literature, Bakhtin’s theory of “carnival”, and the aspect of national and cultural identity in the 20th-century émigré literature.
