Anna Bonshek
is an Australian based artist
who has worked and taught in England and the USA. She is the founder of Akshara
Productions, an organization that focuses on collaboration across the film,
visual and performing arts. Her recent collaborative work Project Reverie will be shown at the Visual Arts Gallery, India
Habitat Centre, New Delhi, India in May 2004. She has exhibited her work
internationally, received awards from the Royal
Society of Arts and the Science Policy
Foundation, the National Endowment for
the Arts, Iowa Arts Council and
the Inter Society for the Electronic Arts.
Bonshek has published in Body, Space and Technology, Reframing
Consciousness, Artlink, New Art Examiner, Modern Science Vedic Science Journal and
Visibly Female, and in other journals worldwide. Her most recent book Mirror
of Consciousness: Art, Creativity and Veda deals with consciousness and the
arts from a Vedic perspective. Bonshek was a regional editor for New
Art Examiner in the 1980s and 90s and holds a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, a
Higher Diploma in Painting, an MA and Ph.D. in Vedic Science from the University
Wolverhampton, Slade School of Fine
Art and Maharishi University of
Management. Bonshek’s work is informed by visual art processes and has
been presented at QPIX, Centre
of Advanced Inquiry into the Interactive Arts, Terror’98
(International Symposium for the Electronic Arts—ISEA’98), and the
School of Visual Arts, New York.
