Biographies of Contributors

John Freeman is senior lecturer in Performing Arts at De Montfort University. Building on postgraduate research into postmodern performance strategies, which culminated in an extended paper entitled 'Myth, Ritual and the Urban Sensibility', he subsequently took a PhD at Brunel University. The focus of this was an investigation of the possibilities of documenting performance-making processes through heuristic methodologies. 

A regular contributor to international festivals of theatre, the former editor of 'Performance Practice' and having taught in locations from New York to Helsinki, John Freeman has published a number of articles. Recent papers have appeared in 'The Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism', 'Higher Education Review', 'Total Theatre' and the 'Guardian'.
