Gillian Thomson is a PhD candidate at the University of Ulster, Coleraine. She is interested in post-war American Literature, particularly the Beat generation and correlative avant-garde movements of the time (Black Mountain school, East Coast poets etc.) She has been published in Beat Scene magazine and has a forthcoming publication with the Comparative Literature Association in Ireland. Her PhD thesis is an examination of female Beat poets and novelists. In the background, Gillian nurtures a fondness for contemporary cultural theory, particularly poststructuralism and difference feminism.
