Chris Hanley is currently completing a PhD on aesthetic
and political issues
arising from George Orwell's work. He teaches at a sixth form college in
Manchester, and recently, at a Salford conference on the subject of
conflict, gave a talk about the marketization of secondary education. A
version of this talk, entitled 'Education: Its Market-Economic Definition'
is due to be published in August, in a book featuring work from the Salford
conference.
