Born in Heidelberg, Germany, in 1988, Laura Hatry was graduated with a degree in Hispanic Philology from the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid in 2010, where she also obtained her Master’s degree in Hispanic Literatures in 2011. Currently she is a Ph.D. candidate at the same university writing a thesis entitled “Power, Violence and Politics in Latin American Film and Literature.” Her research focuses mainly on cinematographic adaptations of Latin American literary works. Her work has been published in specialized journals such as Voz y Letra, Nerudiana, Cuadernos de Aleph and Letralia and in books such as La (re)invención del género negro (Andavira) and En pie de prosa (Iberoamericana/Vervuert), and she has translated books and essays from and to Spanish, English and German. She has participated as a speaker in international conferences in Spain, England, the United States, and Argentina, and her work as a visual artist has been shown in exhibitions in the United States, Spain, France, Germany, Canada, Austria, and the United Arab Emirates.
