Beth
Hawkins received her Ph.D in Comparative Literature from the
University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign. She
is an assistant professor in the Department of English at Denison University.
Her areas of focus and interest are modern European literature,
existentialism, religious studies, phenomenology, and psychoanalysis.
She is the author of Reluctant Theologians: Kafka,
Celan, Jabès (New York: Fordham
University Press, 2003) and has contributed to journals such as Shofar,
Journal of Jewish Thought and Philosophy, Jewish Quarterly Review, and Journal
of the Kafka Society of America.
