Jade McCutcheon currently works in the School of Communication at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst N.S.W. as a Director/Lecturer in Theatre Media. Her doctoral thesis ”The Actor As Shaman: The Spirit of Actor Training ” took a critical look at current actor training in the west and the notable lack of a sacred or spiritual approaches within that training. Much of her work in this area has been supported by the Centre for Research into Cultural Risk at Charles Cturt University, Bathurst, N.S.W. Jade attended N.I.D.A. (National Institute of Dramatic Art.)Sydney, where she attained a Diploma of Directing in 1988. She spent two years as member of International Theatre Research Group KISS in Holland (1980/82). Jade has directed over 35 productions at Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir St.Sydney, NIDA, Crossroads Theatre.Sydney, Lookout Theatre, Murray River Performing Group, The Performance Space -Sydney, Southern Queensland University, James Cook University, Charles Sturt University and Wollongong University amongst others. She was also a musician for Playback Theatre 1984 –1986, Sound composer for video, film and live performance, Sydney 1983-1985, Performance Poet at Wollongong Art Gallery, Performance Space, Sydney and other sites.
