I
have a life time of experience as a painter and sculptor and have taught art
in my home studio as well as the Indian Friendship Centre in Mission, British
Columbia, Canada. My art work is included in collections in
Canada, the United States and in Europe.
I studied art at Kwantlen College in Surrey earning an Associate degree
in Fine Art in 1986 and studied at Emily Carr College of Art in Vancouver in
1987.
In 2001 I earned a B.A. in Visual Arts and Psychology at the University
of Fraser Valley and a M.A. in Arts Education at Simon Fraser University in
Vancouver in 2004.
Ph.D. comps exams were passed in the summer of 2005 and I am presently
working on Ph.D. dissertation in Arts Education.
I am interested in the philosophies of Longinus, Burke, Kant, Hegel,
Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty, Dufrenne, Lyotard, Derrida and many others who have
written about the arts and in
particular painting.
I would like to add to the philosophical discourse from the perspective
of a painter, using my own work as a silent language to underscore the issues
raised in relation to arts education.
