IT'S A LONG HAUL to get to almost nowhere; there’s a by-pass, so you could avoid us. But if you do head through our town take some time to acclimatize. It’s not that I’m embarrassed about our town – though I used to be. It’s just that outsiders find it really ugly – and it is. It’s a prairie city, after all. Those of us who’ve lived here for decades still notice that it’s a far cry from a place you’d love to come from and yet we’ve adapted; we know some of the reasons why we‘re here, why we have to be here. Maybe if you stay a little while, take in a show, have a meal, a sleepover, talk to us, you’ll get a sense of what we see, though neither we nor you will ever see what those who’ve always been here get to see.
